As riders we want to use our precious energy in ways that will help us to work towards achieving our goals.
Our energy is finite so we definitely don’t want to be wasting it worrying about those things which are outside of our control.
A much better use of our energy is to focus on those things over which we have a significant amount of control and leave the uncontrollable to take care of themselves.
So here are my top tips for how to do this:
Here’s an example of a performance bubble… you can make some of your own for different situations.
Task
Get a piece of paper and create your own bubble. This might be for a lesson, for a hack, or even for a quiet schooling session at home.
Inside your bubble write down all the things you can control. Outside your bubble list the things outside your control.
Take a photo of your bubble on your phone so that you can take it to you yard with you.
Using your bubble can help you feel more in control of a situation so ahead of your session use your bubble as a focus as to where you want your energy to be used.
We’d love to know how you get on with this exercise and if it helps to direct your thoughts. If you are feeling able why not share your bubble in our group?
